A detoxification program for physical dependence does not necessarily address the underlying factors of addiction, social factors, psychological addiction, or the complex behavioral issues that intermingle with addiction. It is for these reasons that it is important the detoxification process is followed with a treatment program and counseling. Detox alone, without a structured treatment program, is not treatment.
The length of detoxification can vary depending on the personal needs, physical, and mental health of the addict. The average length usually lasts 3 – 7 days. Specialized preliminary counseling with the addict, paired with staff members certified in First-Aid/CPR are present at all times to care for those in the detox program.
Once the detox program is complete, the client will then join the Residential Treatment Program to start their personal discovery and 12-Step work that successful recovery requires.
